Drake Announces PARTYNEXTDOOR Collaborative Album ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’ For Valentine’s Day
Drake has kept fans waiting for music for a long time before, but this particular wait was different since he is coming off a major beef with Kendrick Lamar; they were curious about his next move. The wait will be over soon, as the 38-year-old rapper announced his collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR titled $ome $exy $ongs 4 U will be out on Valentine’s Day 2025.
The 6 God initially announced the project in August 2024 while performing at the PARYNEXTDOOR & Friends show in Toronto. He claimed it would come out near the fall when the “weather got colder,” and while he didn’t exactly follow up on that, the project is still welcomed by fans with open arms. PND followed up and said the project would be 15 songs.
The five-time Grammy winner shared a trailer on Monday (Feb. 3) where PND is singing in the background, presumably a track from the album. The camera slowly enters a studio where a woman is standing at the microphone while Drizzy is sitting on a couch. Check out the trailer and get ready for $ome $exy $ongs 4 U on Feb. 14.
Drake releasing this project with PARYNEXTDOOR on Feb. 14 couldn’t be better timing for him. In 2009, he released his breakthrough mixtape So Far Gone on Feb. 13. Six years later, he released his surprise mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late also on Feb. 13. With so many negative headlines over the last year, people will potentially fondly reflect on two of his most popular projects while preparing to finally hear new music.
While he was present in 2024 with features and diss tracks aimed at Kendrick Lamar, it marked the first year since 2019 that he did not release a project. In October 2023, fans received For All The Dogs and then the deluxe Scary Hours 3 edition one month later. In 2022, he shared his surprise house album Honestly, Nevermind in June followed by the 21 Savage collaborative effort Her Loss in November. As for Party, he released P4 in April 2024, making this the first two-year stretch of consecutive projects for the elusive singer since 2016-2017 when he released P3, Colours II, and Seven Days.
$$$ 4U will also mark the third collaborative album in his career, joining 2015’s What A Time To Be Alive with Future and 2022’s Her Loss with 21. Choosing PARTYNEXTDOOR built up major anticipation for fans as their history together speaks for itself with classic records such as “Come And See Me,” “Recognize,” “Over Here,” and more.
