Dr. Oz and Mark Wahlberg feud over breakfast — yes, breakfast
Dr. Oz isn’t intimidated by Mark Wahlberg’s amazing abs.
During his appearance Wednesday on Today, the host of the Dr. Oz Show revived his (so far good-natured) feud with the buff Pain & Gain star about whether people should or should not eat breakfast. No, really, that’s what it’s about.
The two first broached the subject earlier this month after Dr. Oz (full name: Mehmet Oz) spoke in favor of doing away with what many people eat as their first meal of the day, just after waking up, during an event he held in New York City. Oz, a trained physician, is a proponent of intermittent fasting and advises people to wait for brunch, closer to lunch time.
Wahlberg took issue with the idea of a world without breakfast, particularly because he eats breakfast before his intense daily workouts, in an interview with TMZ. He took to social media and challenged Oz to a workout in a video endorsed by both David Beckham and Mario Lopez, two other guys who know a few things about fitness.
Still, Oz continued to argue his point. He and Wahlberg, who’s an investor in the F45 exercise franchise, ended up trading good-natured barbs back and forth.
In his latest Today appearance, Oz said Wahlberg has “bought into the dogma of breakfast.”
Wahlberg’s latest posts on social media are about his new Netflix movie, Spenser Confidential, but don’t expect him to forget about his beef with Oz.
One of the upcoming projects Wahlberg has lined up is a starring role in a reboot of ‘70s TV series The Six Billion Dollar Man. The story revolves around a former astronaut with superhuman strength, thanks to his bionic implants... and, presumably, a daily breakfast.
