Donald Trump Jr. slams 'Saturday Night Live' for 'bullying' Kanye West over his MAGA hat
He’s angered Chris Evans, Lana Del Rey, and countless (former?) fans with his Make America Great Again hat and call to end the 13th Amendment, but Kanye West has at least two high-profile supporters in his corner. They’re both named Donald Trump.

Despite dressing up like a Perrier bottle for part of his musical performance on the Sept. 29 season premiere of Saturday Night Live, West’s red MAGA cap was undoubtedly his most controversial clothing item of choice. The rapper wore the hat in promos for the show, and later returned to the stage with it perched on his head as he gave an impromptu, post-show speech in support of Trump. Though the speech wasn’t broadcast, comedian Chris Rock was on hand to capture it, as well as his own reaction: “My god.”
The pro-Trump display naturally drew the attention of the man himself. POTUS devoted a tweet to slamming SNL while praising West for “leading the charge” for MAGA.
Like many, I don’t watch Saturday Night Live (even though I past hosted it) – no longer funny, no talent or charm. It is just a political ad for the Dems. Word is that Kanye West, who put on a MAGA hat after the show (despite being told “no”), was great. He’s leading the charge!

His son, Donald Trump Jr., echoed that sentiment. The first son sent a tweet Sunday night referencing West’s remarks in the post-show speech.
“You see they laughing at me,” the musician told the SNL audience. “You heard them. They scream at me. They bully me. They bullied me backstage. They said, ‘Don’t go out there with that hat on.’ They bullied me backstage. They bullied me. And then they say I’m in a sunken place [a reference to the 2017 film Get Out].”
West’s account of his experience prompted the younger Trump to accuse SNL — and “the left” — of not being “tolerant of any view that differs even slightly from their own.”
Is anyone even a little bit shocked that @kanyewest was bullied backstage for wanting to wear a #maga hat on SNL?

Many of Trump Jr.’s followers supported his statements, saying they felt sorry for West. Others, however, found it ironic, and mentioned West’s own infamous storming of the stage during Taylor Swift’s MTV VMAs speech in 2009.
Critics also accused him of being hypocritical for coming down against bullying.

At least one SNL star is calling out West. Chris Redd tweeted Sunday that he wasn’t onstage during West’s speech, and disputed the star’s bullying claim.
