Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt hit high notes in song version of debate

The second presidential debate is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt teamed up with The Gregory Brothers to songify Sunday's town hall debate. In the delightfully cheesy music video, Gordon-Levitt takes Anderson Cooper's spot at the moderator's table while undecided voters sing their questions and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump respond in song, too, with the help of autotune.

On Monday, Gordon-Levitt and The Gregory Brothers wrote a short op-ed about their video, explaining that they were inspired by the absurdity of the 2016 presidential eleciton.

"Maybe it’s just that so many wish this election were imaginary. So we have nudged last night’s spectacle across the threshold of the fantastic, and fancied a debate in song. A debate where Hillary Clinton’s and Donald Trump’s voices rose together in harmony. Where they danced in unison. And where Joseph Gordon-Levitt magically replaced Anderson Cooper at the moderator’s table — because that’s also how surrealism works," the team wrote in their New York Times op-ed.
