Doechii Tells Black Women “Anything Is Possible” While Accepting Best Rap Album Grammy
Doechii shared some powerful words while accepting her first Grammy during the 2025 awards ceremony.
After Cardi B revealed that Doechii won the award for best rap album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, she instantly burst into tears. Once she took to the stage, the rapper noted that only three women have won in the category since being introduced in 1989, including Lauryn Hill, Cardi B and now, Doechii.

“I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I bared my life,” she continued in her speech through tears. “I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get. And I have to thank God.”
“I need to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me,” Doechii added before expressing appreciation for her fans. “I call myself the swamp princess because I’m from Tampa, Florida. There’s so much culture in Tampa. Whenever people think about Florida, they only think about like Miami, but Tampa has so much talent, labels, go to Tampa, there’s talent there.”
After thanking her label and producers on the project, as well as hip-hop, Doechii took a moment to share some inspirational words for Black women everywhere.
“I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now and I want to tell you, ‘You can do it. Anything is possible,'” she said. “Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you that tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark or that you’re not smart enough, or that you’re too dramatic or you’re too loud. You are exactly who you need to be to be right where you are.”
Other nominees in the best rap album category included J. Cole for Might Delete Later, Common & Pete Rock for The Auditorium, Vol. 1, Eminem for The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace) and Future & Metro Boomin for We Don’t Trust You.
Later during the ceremony, Doechii also performed her songs “CATFISH” and “DENIAL IS A RIVER.”
