Documentary about McPherson College car restoration wins top prize
MCPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) — McPherson College has a well-earned reputation for its Automobile Restoration Program.
The bachelor’s degree in restoration technology is the only degree of its kind in the world, and it has gained quite a bit of attention over the years, most recently at the 72nd Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The car show is considered the most prestigious in the world.
It was the 72nd car show at which the college displayed a student-restored 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300S Cabriolet. The project took 7 years to complete.

It placed second in the show, a first for the Concours d’Elegance. The Path to Pebble, a documentary chronicling the story, was released earlier this year and has just won Best Documentary Short Film at the Grand Motoring Film Festival.
The film, directed by Eric Zoller and produced by Lonny Quattlebaum, is narrated by comedian, TV host, and well-known car enthusiast and collector Jay Leno. Leno supports the McPherson College program and sponsors two of its scholarships.
