Demi Lovato still hospitalized a week after overdose for 'complications': She's 'very, very sick'

Demi Lovato is still struggling nearly a week after being found unconscious following a drug overdose.

TMZ reported on Monday that the "Confident" singer is still hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center due to "complications" stemming from her overdose and is "very, very sick." Symptoms include high fever, extreme nausea and "other things."

Though it's unclear when Lovato will ultimately be released from the hospital, "she is under the care of medical experts and is expected to make a full recovery" from the overdose that left her life in jeopardy, a source told TMZ.

Lovato was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home last Tuesday and was revived after being given Narcan, which is commonly used to combat opioid ODs. When officials arrived on the scene, the singer was reportedly uncooperative and refused to tell EMTs what drug she had taken following an all-night bender in celebration of a friend's birthday. Initial reports alleged that Lovato had overdosed on heroin, but sources close to the singer have since denied those claims.

TMZ added that those closest to the former Disney star are urging her to return to rehab after she's discharged from the hospital. Her team reportedly tried to stage an intervention weeks ago after they "noticed that she was in a bad place," but she refused help.

Lovato had revealed to her fans that she'd relapsed after six years of sobriety with a new song, "Sober," which she released several weeks ago. She's long been open about her struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as a years-long eating disorder and issues with anger management. In the lead-up to the 2017 release of her most recent album, "Tell Me You Love Me," Lovato detailed her issues in a revealing YouTube documentary, "Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated."
