Demi Lovato reveals struggles following overdose and Yahoo readers react
From superstardom to drug abuse and a near-fatal overdose, Demi Lovato has been through it all.
Now, the 27-year-old singer is opening up about life in the spotlight, her drive to get and stay sober, and the struggles she’s faced behind the scenes.
Lovato recently appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed that she first got sober when she was just 19 before relapsing 6 years later.
“I got sober at an age where I wasn't even legally allowed to drink,” she pointed out.
The star also discussed being surrounded by a team whose controlling management style ended up doing more harm than good, revealing that they would try to prevent her from eating foods that could cause her to gain weight.
“If I was in a hotel room at night, they would take the phone out of my room so I couldn’t call room service — or if there was fruit in my room they would take it out because that’s extra sugar,” said Lovato.
