The Definitive Chrishell Stause and G Flip Relationship Timeline

Chrishell Stause and G Flip’s relationship has occupied much of my limited attention for over two years. Ever since the Selling Sunset star and the nonbinary Australian drummer announced their relationship in May 2022, it’s hard to focus on anything else. Movies? Too long! Books? Who has the time? But a TikTok video of Chrishell and G Flip dressing up as Ross Lynch and Troye Sivan from the “One of Your Girls” video? Sign me up! I love very few things earnestly, so I’m sure some people think my obsession fandom is a bit. So allow me to use this timeline of Chrishell and G Flip’s relationship to explain why I am totally, earnestly 100% gay for G-Shell (or is it C-Flip?).
Like several million Netflix subscribers, I was a fan of Chrishell Stause before I ever detected any inklings of queerness from her. When the luxury real estate reality show Selling Sunset first started airing, Stause was going through a heartbreaking divorce with This is Us star Justin Hartley. Then she started dating Jason Oppenheim, president of the O Group brokerage at the center of Selling Sunset, only to end up at a crossroads over whether the couple wanted children. I just wanted this woman to catch a break, honestly. I had no idea she would find healing and true love in the form of a nonbinary musician with a letter for a first name.
Like many Americans, I had no idea who G Flip was until Stause revealed she was dating them on the season 5 reunion episode of Selling Sunset. But let me assure you, they are quite well-known in Australia and they certainly deserve the wider fame they are now accruing with the release of their album Drummer. A percussionist with a powerful singing voice, G Flip may have first inspired a reaction of “Who?” when they were first introduced to audiences. But if you listen to their music, or go to one of their shows, you will see why Stause appears to be completely obsessed with them: They are a breath of fresh air with an Australian accent, good-humored but also deeply thoughtful. Simply put, no matter what the more queerphobic Selling Sunsets believe, it seemed to me like Chrishell had finally found someone worthy of the intensity of her love.
So, with complete honesty — but also the occasional joke — allow me to guide you through Chrishell Stause and G Flip’s love story, beginning, of course, in 1927.
September 1927: Philo Taylor Farnsworth Invents the Modern Television
A Mormon teenager from Beaver, Utah spent seven years working on the concept for an all-electric television, only to unveil his success at age 21. His invention would become the medium through which we watch Selling Sunset, without which Chrishell Stause and G Flip might never have met. (It’s also responsible for All My Children, the soap on which Stause starred for 541 episodes!)
July 1981: Chrishell Stause Is Born
Chrishell Stause is a Cancer, which makes all kinds of sense given the gamut of emotions we see from her on Selling Sunset. She was born in 1981 in Kentucky to what she described in a tribute post to her late father as “an unconventional family.” Stause’s family story is genuinely moving. For the purpose of this relationship timeline, I would like to note one beautifully serendipitous detail: her dad was a drummer, or “the heartbeat of music,” as she beautifully phrased it.
September 1994: G Flip Is Born
Somewhere in the wilds of Australia, G Flip was born a Virgo with a drumstick in their hand. “I just want to play, mate!" they announced, to the astonishment of all the kangaroos. Someone put a kit in front of them and they performed the entire drum solo from Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.” Is it any wonder that they would go on to become an award-winning musician who released an album called Drummer?
October 2021: Chrishell Stause and G Flip Connect at a Halloween Party
According to an interview the couple gave to Vogue Australia, Chrishell Stause was G Flip’s realtor for a planned move to Los Angeles, but they had “only met in passing” until one fateful night in October 2021. When did Chrishell and G Flip first truly connect? Why, no less gay an occasion than Halloween! G Flip invited Chrishell to a Tones and I show that the drummer was playing, and they unwittingly wore matching outfits.
“I was a very DIY, thrift-store skeleton,” G Flip told Vogue Australia. “My costume would’ve cost me all but $15. And Chrishell looked like a million-dollar skeleton.”
What a shock that these two skeletons would end up … boning. (I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m trying to delete it.)
December 2021: Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim Announce Their Breakup
I’m addressing this blurb to any homophobic Selling Sunset fans who stumble across this relationship timeline: Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim broke up in December 2021 for the same kind of boring deal-breaker reasons many couples do: She wanted kids, he did not. Chrishell moved on to G Flip, and they’re all friends now. Be mad about it. You can’t rewrite a beautiful queer love story, no matter how many hateful comments you post.
Late 2021 - May 2022: The Dark Ages
For a certain subset of hyper-online Angeleno lesbians who heralded the arrival of G Flip to their fair city, this period is full of all sorts of micro-milestones, including “Chrishell left a comment on G Flip’s post” and “G Flip hearted Chrishell’s selfie.” Suffice it to say, this is a period when Instagram provides our most reliable public window into the couple’s nascent relationship. From interviews, however, we do know that this period was — if you’ll excuse the editorializing — very cute.
After their first kiss, for example, Chrishell reportedly said, “I apologize for being straight.” And in January 2022, when Chrishell was helping G Flip look for homes, she had a physical response to her client’s whole vibe. “I had a reaction in my body that felt the same way as if a man walked up to me that I had a crush on — that I would get a little flustered,” Stause later told Them. Hopefully one day, they will hire a queer novelist (hello!) to adapt their early love story as a rom-com.
May 2022: The Selling Sunset Reunion Episode Heard ’Round the World
For my particular circle of queer friends, this was a real “where were you when?” moment. I was minding my own business on the couch when suddenly I received no fewer than five DMs informing me that Chrishell had gone public with her relationship with G Flip in a Selling Sunset season five reunion episode hosted by Queer Eye’s Tan France. I immediately pressed play. From the shocked reactions of Stause’s castmates to her ex-boyfriend Jason Oppenheim’s endearingly awkward attempt to conjugate a verb correctly (“they seems like a badass”), so many details from this episode are forever etched in my memory.
“I recently have been spending a lot of time with someone that’s very important to me,” Stause shared. “Their name is G Flip. They’re nonbinary so they go by they/them. And they are an extremely talented musician.”
The reveal sparked a wave of tabloid headlines, including some that described G Flip as a “nonbinary rapper,” along with a flurry of internet interest, prompting Chrishell to do some LGBTQ+ 101 on her Instagram.

Also Also May 2022: The “Get Me Outta Here” Music Video Drops
“Get Me Outta Here” makes convenience stores sexy.
“Get Me Outta Here”? More like get me into this music video! This sexy, sultry accompaniment to G Flip’s pulse-pounding song features the couple making out all over the place, most notably a convenience store – and it dropped almost immediately after the relationship reveal. I’m going to take this opportunity to emphasize a fact that sometimes gets lost in the coverage of Chrishell and G Flip’s relationship: G Flip’s music is really good. Check out “The Worst Person Alive” if you need an entry point.
June 2022: Chrishell and G Flip Kiss at the MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED
How do you celebrate Pride Month? I like to commemorate it by kissing my partner, winning an award for best reality star, and then going home to my mansion in the Hollywood Hills. Oh, wait! That’s how Chrishell celebrates Pride. (I celebrate it by sitting on my couch and reading People articles about what Chrishell and G Flip are up to.) At the MTV Movie & TV Awards, Stause thanked fans for supporting her even after learning that she was down bad for a nonbinary Aussie.
“I knew about this nomination before I had said anything about my sexuality,” Stause said. “I’m not trying to get really deep with you guys, but the fact that this was voted on after means so much to me because I wasn't sure how that was gonna go.”
It must also be stated that Chrishell and G Flip really said, “Happy Pride!” with their all-black looks for this event. I mean, just look at that photo. The tattoos? The sunglasses? It’s giving, “We saw you from across from the bar and decided our vibe was way cooler than yours.” Unfortunately, the couple’s smooch at the event was not captured by the fine folks at Getty Images, but you can join me in reading People updates about the couple if you want to see a cute screengrab.
October 2022: Chrishell and G Flip Dress Up as Each Other For Halloween
Chrishell and G Flip love Halloween. (Just wait until you get to the October 2023 entry in this timeline!) One year after their initial connection at a spooky season shindig, the newly official pair pulled off a classic couples costume: dressing as each other. When straight couples do this, I typically have a lot of questions: Is one of you an “egg” (i.e. a closeted trans person)? Are you just having innocent fun — or are you trying to get some borderline transphobic laughs from your friends? But when Chrishell and G Flip pull off the classic Halloween swap, I have no notes: It’s a master class in gender exploration. G Flip, a nonbinary person whose wardrobe appears to mostly be comprised of tank tops and bandanas, recreated several of Stause’s high-femme looks. Meanwhile, Stause went a whole lot butcher than she’s used to for her portrayal of her partner. But again, this was all just a prelude for their true Halloween masterpiece. Keep reading.
December 2022: Chrishell Unleashes Her Righteous Fury on the People’s Choice Awards for Not Being Able to Bring G Flip
FOMO
Chrishell Stause was “on the sauce” when she criticized the award show's attendance policy.
Here’s a free etiquette lesson: Never, ever, ever tell queer people they can’t bring a partner as a plus-one. In a Twitter (R.I.P.) storm Stause posted about the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, she admitted she was “on the sauce” and would “prob regret this later,” but unloaded on the ceremony for allegedly only allowing her to bring a plus-one from the cast of Selling Sunset. Chrishell, you have nothing to regret. In truth, Stause has always been outspoken, but her relationship with G Flip appears to have unlocked new levels of name-taking. We love to see queer people refusing to put up with nonsense.
Also December 2022: Christmas in Australia
Look, even if you live in Los Angeles, you have to be committed to date someone from Australia. That’s a 15-hour flight. You could watch two whole seasons of Selling Sunset and still have time to kill. That’s why it was so telling that Stause spent her first Christmas with G Flip in the Land Down Under. (Side note: one of the benefits of following both G Flip and Stause on Instagram is hearing them try to do each other’s accents in the occasional Story. I highly recommend it.)
January 2023: Chrishell and G Flip Make a Cameo on The L Word: Generation Q
In her acting career, Chrishell Stause has been a staple on multiple soap operas, appeared on several TV series, and recently starred in two Lifetime original movies. But the role she was born to play may have been herself on The L Word: Generation Q. She and G Flip made a cameo on the now-canceled Showtime series in January 2023. The show may be gone too soon, but at least it christened Chrishell and G Flip as queer royalty before it went off the air.
March 2023: G Flip Writes a Song About Chrishell
To mark their one-year anniversary with Chrishell Stause, G Flip played her a song they had written about her: “Be Your Man,” an emotional ballad that explores the nuances of queer and nonbinary love. In a video posted to G Flip’s TikTok, Stause is moved to tears by the song — and who can blame her? “You are more than a moment to work through,” G Flip sings in the track. “And I am no one-night lover, I want you.” After words like that, the next item on this timeline should come as no surprise…
May 2023: Chrishell and G Flip Announce THey Are Married ??
The *Selling Sunset* star and the nonbinary Australian musician have officially tied the knot.
One year after publicly revealing their relationship, Chrishell Stause made another bombshell announcement: she and G Flip had gotten married. “Love doesn’t always go as planned,” Stause wrote in the caption to an Instagram reel featuring a shot of the ceremony. “Sometimes it’s immeasurably better.” The soundtrack to the reel was, fittingly, “Be Your Man.” But honestly, if you didn't hear wedding bells going off in your mind back when we all saw the “Get Me Outta Here” music video, that’s on you.
Also May 2023: Chrishell and G Flip Get Their Charts Read
Astrology queers ate well the day Netflix dropped a 15-minute-long (!) couples chart reading of Chrishell and G Flip. We’ve already established the couple’s sun signs — Cancer and Virgo, respectively — but in this Important Text, astrologer Chani Nicholas dives into all the finer details of the couple’s compatibility. Most importantly, Nicholas gave us access to both of their Big Threes. Stause is a Cancer sun, Sagittarius rising, and Pisces moon, while G Flip is a Virgo sun, Libra rising, and Sagittarius moon. “When you put the two of you together, it’s kind of like water in a vase,” Nicholas said, saying that “the earth” of G Flip’s sun holds the “caring and the emotion” of Chrishell’s sun. Poetry!

You may have noticed that there are a lot of May entries on this relationship timeline. That’s because new seasons of Selling Sunset typically drop in May, and then again in the fall. And although Chrishell and G Flip appeared in season 6 of the reality show together, the cruel editors at Netflix decided to leave this scene of them making vegan birthday cupcakes on the cutting room floor.
I love watching rich people in Los Angeles try to use their own kitchens. I love it even more when I get to hear G Flip say, “Sprinkles, dahling!” in an Australian accent. But the deleted scene also contained an important declaration of love from Stause: “When I started dating G, I don’t think either one of us foresaw where this would end up,” she said. “But we are very committed now and I really feel like this is the person I will be with for the rest of my life.” How sweet, pun intended.
October 2023: Chrishell and G Flip Recreate Troye Sivan’s “One of Your Girls” Video
We all deserve someone who looks at us like G-Flip-as-Troye-Sivan-as-a-pop-diva looks at Chrishell-Stause-as-a-chiseled-man.
I have never felt the rush except for one time: When I first laid eyes on Chrishell and G Flip’s 2023 Halloween photo shoot. The couple one-upped their gender-bending 2022 costume with a frankly jaw-dropping homage to pop icon Troye Sivan’s “One of Your Girls” video, with Stause donning a silicone chest and G Flip appearing in black. “We haven’t stopped laughing since ?? How’d we do? ??” Stause wrote in the caption to the Instagram post revealing the stunning look. I’m still laughing, but mostly I’m in absolute awe.
November 2023: Chrishell Defends G Flip at the Selling Sunset Season 7 Reunion
In a tense hot seat segment, the reality star stuck up for her marriage to the nonbinary artist.
The seventh season of Selling Sunset found Chrishell Stause dealing with an onslaught of pettiness from all sides. Between whispers that she had “changed,” inappropriate questions about whether she was completely over Jason Oppenheim, and a lunch where castmate Marie-Lou Nurk misgendered G Flip, it was impossible not to detect the ways that queerphobia has impacted her place in the show’s tight-knit social circle. That all came to a head at the reunion episode in November 2023 when host Tan France asked castmate Nicole Young about favorably replying to an Instagram comment that insulted Stause, prompting Young to claim that she didn't realize referring to someone as “the lesbian chick” was homophobic.
“First of all, say whatever you want about me, I’m a tough bitch,” Stause told Young in the ensuing argument. ”But don’t go after my partner. Ever.”
I wish she didn’t have to defend herself from homophobia, but I’m glad she’s out here proving that we don’t have to suffer fools gladly.
February 2024: G Flip Celebrates One Year of Marriage to Chrishell
In a People exclusive, G Flip shared an update one year after their Las Vegas wedding to Stause. “It’s great,” the drummer told the outlet. “We adore each other and we’re having so much fun and we’re excited for our future and we’re so cute together.” And in case your heart explodes when you read something too adorable, then brace yourself because G Flip also shared that the couple celebrates “the first time we kissed,” among lots of other “cute little anniversaries.”
The pair had a busy 2024, with G Flip touring North America with their album Drummer and Stause filming multiple projects. But G Flip told People that “doing FaceTimes all the time” was helping their relationship stay strong amid all the travel, saying, “I’m just very lucky and so fortunate to have her as my person and my partner.”
Also February 2024: ?? New G Flip and Chrishell PDA Moment Drops
At the 21st G’Day USA Arts Gala in Los Angeles — an annual event celebrating Australian creatives like the illustrious G Flip — Chrishell Stause shared a kiss with their partner that was so beautiful, it made headlines across multiple media outlets. That’s the power of true love, baby!
April 2024: Chrishell and G Flip Present at the GLAAD Media Awards
Chrishell and G Flip’s chemistry was off the charts while presenting the award for Outstanding Drama at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards. First of all, we have to talk about Stause’s outfit: that shimmery off-the-shoulder breastplate is truly something to behold. But sartorial choices aside, the couple somehow packed humor, double entendre, and one particularly steamy bit of innuendo about being thrown up against the wall into a quick awards show moment.
“I guess it was hard for people to see you date someone that was shorter than you and totally not in your league, but that was just Jason,” G Flip joked, to gasps from the audience, in one particularly hilarious reference to Stause’s ex.
Oscars next?
June 2024: Chrishell Films The Traitors in Scotland While G Flip Sends Love From Afar
Peacock’s reality competition show is getting even queerer.
In huge news for Chrishell-heads everywhere, we learned in June 2024 that Stause had been cast in the third season of Peacock’s beloved game of deception, The Traitors, alongside a who’s who of LGBTQ+ reality stars. Aside from the fact that we’ll get to see two inimitable fashion icons — I’m talking, of course, about the Selling Sunset star and Tartan-print legend Alan Cumming — share a screen, I personally cannot wait to see whether selling high-end Hollywood real estate has prepared Stause to be cutthroat in a Scottish castle.
Unfortunately, shooting the show abroad meant a bit more time apart in 2024 for Stause and G Flip, but the drummer sent a sweet message during filming. In a People interview, G Flip was asked what they would say to Stause if they could speak to her during the filming of The Traitors. In a perfect blend of romance and humor, G Flip started off by saying, “I love you, baby,” before proceeding to implore Cumming not to hit Stause with any “bug challenges.”
“Do not whack out a spider on my beautiful wife. Do not, because she will quit the show. She will just leave,” they said. (I just have to add here that the sentence “do not whack out a spider on my beautiful wife” had probably never been uttered aloud before this moment, and now that it has been said, we are all better for it.)
July 2024: Chrishell and G Flip Renew Their Vows Down Under With an Aussie Wedding, Mate! ??
Amid a whirlwind year that included a season of Selling Sunset and G Flip’s tour for their album Drummer, the gorgeous couple took some much-needed time to celebrate their love with friends and family in Australia. Referred to by the press as a “vow renewal,” Stause wasn’t choosy about the language in her own Instagram caption for the event, writing, “Call it an Aussie wedding, a vow renewal, a bday party… I will refer to it as the BEST NIGHT EVER.” Most importantly, the accompanying photo carousel includes a slide of Chrishell and G Flip riding a mechanical bull together, which should honestly be a requirement at every queer wedding.
September 2024: Chrishell Shares a Family Planning Update
The eighth season of Selling Sunset included plenty of powerful Chrishell moments. Stause held her own in the face of Nicole Young’s prevarication over a homophobic comment she liked on Instagram, refusing to buckle until Young had thoroughly apologized for co-signing the remark. She also defended her relationship with G Flip during a subplot centered on Amanza Smith’s birthday party: Smith’s stylist had also made homophobic comments about Stause — can this woman catch a break, please? — and Stause refused to attend until the stylist had been disinvited. But the moment I most wanted to see was apparently left on the cutting room floor.
Though the season did include Stause telling co-star Emma Hernan that she and G Flip had begun looking for a donor to start a family — to which Hernan gamely volunteered her own brother! — at least one other scene touching on the subject was apparently cut for time.
“We were talking lovely things, our family update, all of those things,” Stause told Extra’s Billy Bush about the cut-for-time scene with G Flip in an interview, to which Bush replied, “So tell me what the update is,” promising he wouldn’t cut it. “I don’t have an update for you as of yet, but we’re working on it,” Stause said, confirming, “We will have a family.”
But Stause, who has proven herself to be an effective educator on queer issues, also took the opportunity to talk about the many “obstacles” that LGBTQ+ couples face when starting families. In a 2020 interview with People, Stause previously talked about freezing her eggs, so she has been remarkably open about this process for years now.
“I’m hopeful that, yes, we will be entering a new chapter at some point soon,” Stause told Bush.
Consider this my promise that I will keep updating this relationship timeline for the next 100 years as Chrishell and G Flip’s children take over the world. I fully anticipate one day writing a header in this article that reads: “September 2054: Chrishell Stause and G Flip’s Child C Flip Achieves EGOT in Record Time, Also Wins Nobel Prize.” But seriously, I couldn’t be happier that this wonderful couple is starting a family. Congratulations!
