How Dax Shepard Got Too Close for Comfort to Michael Pe?a in 'CHiPs'
Michael Pe?a visited Ellen on Wednesday and revealed the story behind a graphic scene in his new movie CHiPs. In the scene, Pe?a’s character lifts Dax Shepard’s character into the air, but the towel covering him is ripped off. Shortly after, Pe?a’s head is thrust into Shepard’s naked lap.
The film, written and directed by Shepard, didn’t initially include that scene. Pe?a said, “He actually wrote that scene a week before and then he texted me and said, ‘Read this scene. You’re not going to be very happy.'”
Pe?a reluctantly agreed to the scene, and Shepard promised him he would cover himself with a “sock.” That sock turned out to be see-through, defeating much of the attempted modesty.
When Pe?a asked why Shepard would put him through such an awkward affair, Shepard said that he wanted to get his honest reaction.
