The official description for the new season states, “Teenage siblings discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”
Schwimmer will star in the role of Anthony, described as “a former botany professor and divorced parent of teenage twins whose world takes a tumultuous turn as he juggles the responsibilities of overseeing an aging parent while having his kids for the summer.”
While exact details about the new season remain under wraps, the fact that Schwimmer’s character is a botany professor hints that the season will reference the “Goosebumps” book “Stay Out of the Basement,” with one of the main characters of that book being a botanist.
Schwimmer is best known for his role in the seminal sitcom “Friends,” on which he starred as Ross Geller throughout the show’s 10-season run. He received an Emmy nomination for the show in 1995. Since then, Schwimmer received a second Emmy nomination for his role in “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” in which he played Robert Kardashian. His other notable TV credits include “Band of Brothers,” “Intelligence,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” In film, he is known for the “Madagascar” franchise as well as “Six Days Seven Nights,” “The Laundromat,” and more.
He is repped by Gersh, Circle of Confusion, and Gendler & Kelly.
Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman developed “Goosebumps” for television and serve as executive producers. Hilary Winston serves as executive producer and showrunner. Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film also executive produce along with Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman, as well as Conor Welch and Erin O’Malley. Sony Pictures Television Studios produces the Disney Branded Television series. Original Film and Stoller are currently under TV overall deals with Sony.
