Danville Symphony Orchestra, DHS orchestra to present Halloween Spooktacular
Oct. 11—The Danville Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and the Danville High School (DHS) orchestra will present a joint "Halloween Spooktacular" concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium at Danville High School. The side-by-side orchestras will be lead by Maestro Matthew Sheppard. Musical selections will include Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain," Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King," Elfman's "Nightmare Before Christmas" suite, and many more Halloween-themed pieces. The side-by-side concert will "allow students to show off their many years of experience playing in orchestra," said DSO Board President and DHS Orchestra Director, Gage Womack. Patrons are invited to dress in costume and take part in the costume contest and parade prior to the concert at 6:30 p.m.Students and adults of all ages are invited to participate. Tickets will cost $5 for students and $25 for adults. Several other events will also take place that day before the concert, including a trunk or treat from 1-3 p.m., as well as middle school and high school orchestral performances from 3-6 p.m. Guests are invited to participate in trick-or-treating on the 1st floor of the high school before and after the performances. Food trucks will be available throughout the afternoon and evening. The Halloween Spooktacular is made possible by Dr. Wes Bieritz.
