Daniel Craig's Bond and His 'No Time to Die' Stuntman Both Know a Khaki Suit Is Always a Good Idea
As the world prepares for the 25th James Bond film, No Time to Die, the current occupant of the 007 title, Daniel Craig, has been putting on a late-summer suiting clinic.
On Tuesday, we filled you in on his ability to deploy a linen suit dangerously late in the season. And today, we direct your attention toward new on-set photos of Craig, alongside his stunt double, sporting summer's favorite tailored option: the khaki suit. How big of a flex this is, we can't be sure. Tuesday's outing was IRL, and so Craig's choice of linen in early September is easily analyzed. This, however, is clearly a scene from the upcoming film. We can't be sure if it's a summer setting, but if anyone can wear a khaki suit whenever the hell he wants, it's James F. Bond (the F stands for fuckin').
The thing I find most interesting about this, other than the fact that Daniel Craig now has a stunt double (he's known to Jimmy his own Bond, but our boy has been injury-prone of late), is his shoe choice. A man known for more formal footwear like a sleek lace-up is rocking some chunky chukkas here. Respect!
We here at Esquire are big fans of the silhouette's grandaddy of sorts, Clarks' Wallabees, and although 007's chukkas here aren't quite the same (look at the leather sole on Bond's kicks), they'd certainly work in this style scenario.
Is it too late in the season to wear a suit of this color? Esquire editors and world temperatures agree the answer is absolutely not. And if you pair it with some transitional tones like Bond and his own Cliff Booth have here, it's all the more appropriate.
