Dana Carvey Says Lorne Michaels Is Intrigued by Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni Legal Battle
Lorne Michaels is making sure to stay up to date on all the developments in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing legal battle, according to Dana Carvey.
And the end of last year, Lively filed a lawsuit accusing her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Baldoni, of sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign against her. In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, alleging extortion and defamation.

On Sunday, Lively and Reynolds were among many celebrities in attendance at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special. At one point during the show, former castmembers Tina Fey and Amy Poehler appeared onstage to take questions from the audience, including Reynolds. After being asked how he was doing, Reynolds responded, “Great!” Then, seeming concerned, he asked, “Why, what have you heard?”
On the most recent episode of Carvey and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall podcast, while commenting on the power couple’s appearance at the SNL anniversary show, Carvey — who couldn’t make it to the special — decided to share a text exchange he had after with SNL co-creator Michaels.
“I texted Lorne afterward, ‘Wish I could have been there,’ and instead of talking about the show, he just goes, ‘Baldoni will now countersue. I think that Lively will probably get a new attorney,'” Carvey, who was a castmember on SNL from 1986 to 1993, told Spade.
The comedian said he attempted to change the subject by praising Tom Hanks’ sketch and Steve Martin’s monologue. However, Michaels’ mind was clearly still on Lively-Baldoni. “He goes, ‘I don’t know where Ryan Reynolds is on this but certainly they have deep pockets,'” Carvey added in his best Michaels voice.
Though the SNL boss may be captivated by the legal drama, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, wasn’t very fond of Reynold’s joke. He told Billy Bush on his Hot Mics podcast earlier this week, “I’m unaware of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been sexually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation. I can’t think of anyone who’s done anything like that. So it surprised me.” He also described the joke as the couple’s “latest move.”
