‘The Daily Show’ creates ‘alternative facts’ about Donald Trump’s inauguration
Donald Trump’s eventful inauguration weekend concluded with spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway coining the term “alternative facts” to justify the administration’s false claims about crowd sizes at the ceremony. The Daily Show host Trevor Noah noted that Conway followed up that term with a gigantic “tell,” noticeably flipping her hair back after using the term. Correspondent Desi Lydic came on to provide some more “alternative facts” about the inauguration.
“The media wants you to believe that the crowd was small based on what your eyeballs are telling your brain,” Lydic said. “But here’s an alternative fact. A lot of people left early because, as Trump predicted, they got tired of winning. Another alternative fact: You just couldn’t see Trump’s crowd because they were wearing polar bear skins.
Lydic then declared that this meant Trump’s claim about having the biggest inauguration crowd ever was “so true,” and proceeded to imitate Conway’s hair flip. She escalated the parody with each new “alternative fact,” brushing and blow-drying her hair as she declared that yes, Trump’s claim that it didn’t rain during his speech was also true.
