Cynthia Erivo Set to Join David Oyelowo for Keynote at GEANCO Foundation Gala in Los Angeles
Cynthia Erivo is lining up some plans now that her global press tour is wrapped and Wicked is working its magic in theaters. The Tony and Grammy Award-winning talent will join David Oyelowo to headline a keynote discussion at the GEANCO Foundation’s Hollywood gala.
Set to take place at 1 Hotel West Hollywood on Dec. 6, the gala will be hosted and co-chaired by Oyelowo with Folake Olowofoyeku as it seeks to raise funds for programs focused on vulnerable women and children in Nigeria. The night will feature Nigerian music, African-inspired hors d’oeuvres, an open bar with Nigeria’s Star Beer and updates on GEANCO’s programs. Sponsors include Safar Global Foundation, U.S. Venture, Jason Levin and Gafni & Levin LLP, Paul Hastings LLP, Round Hill Search, Navigate and Misfit.

Proceeds also support the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls, which provides tuition, healthcare, leadership training, menstrual and mental health care to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria. The actor has been working with GEANCO since 2014. Organizers have teased that this year’s event will feature a major funding partnership announcement for the scholarship from entrepreneurs Shay and Shab Safarzadeh via their new Safar Global Foundation.
“Our gala is a deeply inspiring and joyful highlight of my year,” said GEANCO co-founder and CEO Afam Onyema. “It is a heartwarming opportunity for Hollywood’s brightest stars to gather in support and celebration of GEANCO’s brightest stars — the girls we empower and serve in Nigeria every single day.”
