‘The Crown’ Producers Pocket $13M Bonus As Curtain Falls On Netflix Series
EXCLUSIVE: The Crown‘s success has helped bestow gifts upon the employees of Left Bank Pictures.
As the curtain fell on the Netflix series, staffers at the British production company pocketed bonuses totaling more than £10M ($13M) in March last year.

The payday was disclosed in a UK Companies House filing by Sony Pictures Television, which loaned Left Bank £10.1M to fund the financial incentive.
Sony and Left Bank declined to comment on the reasons for the bonus and whether it was out of the ordinary, but it coincided with filming wrapping on The Crown’s final season last April.
Left Bank’s website shows the company has 36 members of staff, meaning the bonuses would have averaged out at more than £280,000 per employee.
In an interview with Deadline last year, Left Bank CEO Andy Harries reflected on the achievements of The Crown, describing it as the “Everest” of British television.
He also heavily hinted that the show will be revived in the future. “The Crown remains a great brand and it’s possible that Netflix and ourselves will want to look at it again,” Harries said.
Left Bank is currently gearing up to auction off props from the show to fund National Film and Television School scholarships for the next 20 years.
Auction house Bonhams will launch the sale on February 7, with 150 lots up for grabs. A further 300 items will be sold online on February 8. Left Bank’s conservative estimate is the auction could raise at least £1M.
Sony Pictures Television quietly took full control of Left Bank Pictures in a deal worth £5.5M in 2022. It acquired the 5.32% of Left Bank it did not own, valuing the production house at £103M.
Left Bank’s other shows include Netflix’s Everything Now and the upcoming Paramount+ series Insomnia, featuring Line of Duty star Vicky McClure.
