Courteney Cox gets emotional during surprise 'Friends' reunion with Lisa Kudrow on 'Ellen'
Actress Courteney Cox stopped by Ellen on Tuesday and announced that she’s finally ready to join Instagram, mostly to promote her new Facebook Watch show Nine Months With Courteney Cox. Host Ellen DeGeneres decided to help her friend out because, well…
“Because I have 65 million followers,” DeGeneres told Cox. “I know how to do this.”
So in an effort to do something “creative,” DeGeneres unveiled a set of Central Perk – the frequent coffee shop hangout on Cox’s hit show Friends – and then had one more surprise.
After DeGeneres awkwardly gave the cue, “I wish Lisa Kudrow was here,” the famous Friends theme song began to play and out walked Kudrow onto the set. Cox appeared to get a little emotional seeing her former Friends co-star, as did members of the audience.
And even though DeGeneres was on a roll with the surprises, unfortunately, there would be no additional appearances from other cast members. Though Cox did yell out for Gunther to come and refill her coffee at one point.
There would also be no performance of “Smelly Cat.”
When DeGeneres said she wished Kudrow had brought her guitar the actress replied, “but who would play it?” Then adding to Cox, “I wanted to be there for you, get it?”
