Country Star Ronnie Milsap's Son Found Dead on Nashville Houseboat: 'Todd Was a Force of Joy'
Todd Milsap, the son of legendary country singer Ronnie Milsap, has died.
Todd was found dead on his houseboat at Four Corners Marina in Nashville by his son Saturday morning, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said in a statement shared on Twitter. He was 49.
At this time, Todd’s death “appears to be medically related,” according to MNPD.
“He was found deceased this morning on his houseboat at 4 Corners Marina by his son, who had not heard from his father in the past 2 days,” MNPD wrote.
In addition to his son, Todd is survived by two other children, their mothers and his parents, the county singer and mom Joyce.
“Our son Todd was a force of joy, life, creativity and giving from the moment he was born,” the six-time Grammy winner, 76, tells PEOPLE about his son.
“He made such a mark on our world in his years on this planet, everyone who met him was richer for it. It is too soon to even understand this loss, and I hope it’s something no one else has to bear.”
“Please keep his three children, their mothers and Joyce and I in your prayers at such a fragile time,” Ronnie added.
Todd also worked behind the scenes on his father’s tours, and contributed to his music videos and a number of musical projects, The Tennessean reported.

In 2014, Ronnie was inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame, along with Hank Cochran and Mac Wiseman.
Ronnie — representing the Modern Era Artist — first made his mark as a piano player (responsible for keyboards on Elvis Presley‘s “Kentucky Rain”) and was encouraged by Charley Pride to move to Nashville.
He was signed to RCA Records in 1973 and had a string of country-pop hits that included “Pure Love,” “What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life,” “(There’s) No Gettin’ Over Me,” “Stranger in My House” and “I Wouldn’t Have Missed It For the World.” He was named CMA Male Vocalist of the Year three times and Entertainer of the Year in 1977.
Todd’s service will be held at the Woodlawn Funeral Home on Thompson Lane, The Tennessean reported. There are no further details at this time.
