The news comes as Annapurna’s latest live-action feature, Nightbitch, is due to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Recent Annapurna titles include Nimona, the Oscar-nominated animated film, as well as series like Prime Video’s Dead Ringers.
Remedy’s pact with Annapurna follows ex-Epic Games exec Hector Sanchez returning to Annapurna as president of interactive and new media, where he will work with CEO Megan Ellison to develop IP across multiple platforms. In addition, Paul Doyle has joined Annapurna as head of strategy. At Epic Games, Sanchez led the publishing team and the Unreal engine games business, while Doyle led the corporate strategy team.
“This deal with Remedy isn’t just about adapting great games — it’s about breaking new ground in how companies can collaborate. By backing Remedy’s move toward self-publishing, we’re putting our faith in their vision,” Sanchez said in a statement about the partnership with Remedy.
Annapurna founder Ellison in her own statement said Hollywood storytelling was evolving to new platforms. “Today people fall in love with characters and universes, not formats, and we’re excited to leverage Remedy’s beloved, immersive narratives in these new mediums,” she argued.
Annapurna, launched in 2011, creates content across film, TV, games and other mediums. Remedy, founded and headquartered in Finland, has franchises that include Control, Alan Wake and Max Payne.
