“Anora uses the F word 479 times,” O’Brien said. “That’s three more than the record set by Karla Sofía Gascón’s publicist.”
Following laughs from the audience, the comedian said, “I’m having fun.”
“Karla Sofía Gascón is here tonight,” O’Brien added with the Oscar-nominated actress appearing on-screen. “And Karla, if you are going to tweet about the Oscars, my name is Jimmy Kimmel.”

Gascón attended the Oscars, despite skipping most award shows following the fallout of resurfaced social media posts where she made offensive remarks about Muslims and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Following public outcry, Gascón issued an apology for her tweets, stating: “I want to acknowledge the conversation around my past social media posts that have caused hurt. As someone in a marginalized community, I know this suffering all too well and I am deeply sorry to those I have caused pain. All my life I have fought for a better world. I believe light will always triumph over darkness.”

Gascón is nominated in the Best Actress category for her work in Emilia Pérez. Her nomination is historic as she is the first trans female actress to be up for said award. Gascón is up against Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo, Anora’s Mikey Madison, The Substance’s Demi Moore, and I’m Still Here’s Fernanda Torres.
