Rhenzy Feliz and Colin Farrell in N.Y.C. on Sept. 17, 2024Colin Farrell definitely doesn't approach mentorship like his character in The Penguin.
Farrell's costar Rhenzy Feliz told PEOPLE at the 2024 New York Comic Con on Thursday, Oct. 17 that he and Farrell shared a sweet moment on the set of the HBO show.
In the crime drama series, Farrell, 48, stars as the titular character, Oz Cobb, a.k.a. The Penguin, while Feliz, 26, plays as his henchman, Victor "Vic" Aguilar. Feliz shared that there were a few “big” scenes in the show that he “circled on the schedule," but there was one in particular that he confessed he was “a little bit afraid of”: the scene when Vic first meets The Penguin.
Although he had a bit of nerves, he revealed that the Academy Award nominee found a way to put him at ease.
“We went to rehearse it at one point, and we started saying the words, and I think Colin might have felt something. He was like, ‘You know what? Let's not do this. Let's not rehearse it. Let's just do it on the day,’” he recalled.
Farrell may “have felt like whatever we got is good,” he explained, adding, “Let's capture this thing. Let's get it on camera. Let's not waste it here and in a rehearsal room.”
Feliz recalled that although it was supposed to be like an hour-long rehearsal, they only went through six minutes of rehearsal because Farrell said, “‘All right, we're good.'" Adding, "‘I think we got it. We're good. Let's just, let's just do it on the day.’”
They shot the scene the next week, and while it was a “high intensity” and “big moment,” ultimately, it went well.

“I think that any of the ideas that I was coming up with or any of the things that he was coming up with, we would be able to bounce it off of each other and we found our moments and our scenes and stuff,” Feliz said.
“We didn't necessarily go and become best friends before we started shooting. But I think we found… the relationship between Victor and Oz on camera at the same time,” he revealed. “He and I were getting to know each other at the same time that Victor and Oz were. Honestly, it was perfect. I wouldn't have it any other way.”
