Coachella 2022: Big Sean does it big for Weekend 2 full-house performance
Big Sean had a stage to himself at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for the first time this year and he's a quick learner. His show at Weekend 2 seemed even more electric than the first — comparable to some of the headlining performers.
It's not a stretch considering that during Weekend 1, he was rumored to have attracted a crowd as large as Harry Styles', whose show time coincided with Big Sean's on both Fridays.
“Except he got paid way, way, way, way more than me,” Big Sean captioned a screenshot he posted to his Instagram with a cry-laughing Emoji, referencing a report from TMZ.
Regardless, the Sahara tent where Sean performed was packed for a second time and from the get-go, he got the crowd roaring during his spitfire rap in "Paradise," which includes the lyrics, "Room lookin' like it's fumigated, my crew invaded, when I walk in, man, they body to body."
Big Sean followed almost the exact setlist from Weekend 1, but switched an apperance with YG for Mike Posner. The pair collaborated on a rendition of Posner's hit "Cooler Than Me" before Sean offered his condolences for Posner's father's death and embraced the singer.
There were plenty of other heartfelt moments during the show: after rapping his verse from "I Don't Like," Big Sean talked about feeling uncertain in his career before being signed by Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West. He also invited Jhené Aiko, whom he is dating, to croon on his songs "Beware" and "I Know."
The set definitely wasn't lacking energy, evident by the endless screaming of the crowd during hits like "Clique," "Moves," and "All Me."
Perhaps the crowd size was getting uncomfortable for some, as several people started leaving toward the end of the set, though a woman passing right by me yelled, "No, I'm staying!" as Sean's "Bounce Back" started to play.
I bet she didn't regret it.
