Clare Crawley of 'The Bachelorette' says she is on 'the road to healing' after having breast implants removed
Clare Crawley has said goodbye to her breast implants.
The former star of The Bachelorette, who is engaged to former contestant Dale Moss, took to Instagram to update her followers on her breast implant removal surgery, writing in the caption of a snapshot from the hospital, “Surgery is officially done + I am on the road to healing!”
She thanked her medical team for making her “incredibly comfortable throughout this whole process.”
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but they truly are the most compassionate team who truly want to help women like me heal from BII (Breast Implant Illness),” Crawley continued. “On top of that, having the overwhelming support and love from family and friends has just meant the world to me. Having you all give me a boost when my brain has slipped into moments of doubt, truly lifted me up.”
The reality star concluded, “Our body shape does not define us or make us any less lovable or worthy. We are perfectly made just the way we are!”
Breast Implant Illness refers to symptoms experienced outside of the breasts following implant surgery, which can include brain fog, fatigue, joint pain, rashes, and hair loss. In an Instagram video posted earlier this year, Crawley explained, "My skin has been having really bad — hives and rash all down my stomach, on my neck, on my arms. My whole body is just inflamed and itchy."
While not much research has been done on Breast Implant Illness, the Food and Drug Administration stated that it had received 2,500 reports of the condition from November 2018 to October 2019, as well as more than 1,000 reports between January 2008 to October 2018.
Crawley followed up with her surgery post on her Instagram Story, in which she documented the bandages around her breasts. She captioned the post, “I still feel amazing. No pain meds. And the best thing so far...no itchy rashes anymore! I had them for 5 years on and off. My skin feels incredible!”
Crawley isn’t the only star to speak out on her breast implant removal surgery. Earlier this week, Chrissy Teigen — who had her own implants removed last year — shared a photo of her surgical scars to her Instagram Story as well as thanked the doctor who performed the operation.
