Chris Tucker to Pay Over $3.5 Million Settlement in Back Taxes
Chris Tucker reached a settlement deal with the government on Monday to pay $3.58 million in taxes that he owed from his biggest years in Hollywood.
According to Bloomberg, the government sought nearly $10 million for unpaid federal income tax liabilities from 2002, 2006, 2008, and 2010.

This isn’t the first time Tucker has had tax-related issues, he settled a $14 million bill with the IRS in 2014 and owed $11.5 million back in 2010.
The government sued Tucker in 2021 in an attempt to collect back taxes from several years he filed too late. Per The Hollywood Reporter, he was originally set to pay back the taxes in $25,000 to $50,000 increments over a 10-year period, however was unable to pay off the balance in the 10-year allotted period.
He submitted an offer in 2015 to settle his balance for 2002, 2006, 2008, and 2010, but it was rejected. He was making installments of $38,000 a month from 2017 until defaulting in 2019, according to THR.
The complaint suggested that Tucker had “sufficient equity and cash to fully pay the taxes” but that he allegedly declined to do so. Tucker was paid $3 million, $20 million and $25 million, respectively, to star in Rush Hour and its two sequels, THR reported.
Tucker kicked off his first major stand-up tour in over a decade in September. Dubbed “The Legends Tour,” the 30-date trek runs until January 2024, and marks his first nationwide tour since 2011.
After launching his career in stand-up, Tucker became a box office star in the late-1990s and early-2000s thanks to roles in The Fifth Element, Jackie Brown, Friday, Dead Presidents, and the Rush Hour trilogy
