The Chi Promotes Lynn Whitfield Ahead of Season 7
Nuck better watch out: The Chi just promoted Lynn Whitfield to series regular for Season 7, TVLine has confirmed.
Whitfield’s character, Alicia, likely will be on the hunt for vengeance when the Paramount+ With Showtime series returns: Her son, Rob (played by Iman Shumpert), was killed in the Season 6 finale by Nuck (Cortez Smith). Nuck also killed the finale’s other huge casualty, Otis “Douda” Perry (Curtiss Cook).

In the finale’s final moments, Alicia returned home to find Rob’s body dumped on the steps of her townhouse. (Read more about the season ender here.)
In addition to The Chi, Whitfield’s extensive list of TV work includes: Fantasy Island, The Resident, Mistresses, Hit the Floor, How to Get Away With Murder, Without a Trace, Heartbeat, The Women of Brewster Place and Greenleaf.
Speaking of Greenleaf: TVLine recently asked Whitfield for an update on the proposed Lady Mae spinoff. “You know, I really don’t know what happened with it,” she said. “I do feel that we told a really good story [on the original series] and that we told it well, and I was really satisfied with Lady Mae stepping into her own purpose and her own power. It was a really great character arc.”
She added: “But keep our fingers crossed… You never know. I always thought, like they did with Downton Abbey, gosh, it would be great to do a movie.”
Our sister site, Deadline, first reported Whitfield’s Chi promotion.
