Chappell Roan Embraces Slouchy Menswear in Coordinating Suit Styles With Brandi Carlile at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles
While Chappell Roan might be known as the “Midwest Princess,” with a penchant for dramatic onstage ensembles, the singer swapped her bold, shimmering drag-inspired aesthetic for a slouchy twist on menswear for her performance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on Thursday evening.
Roan wore a three-piece dark gray suit for the occasion. The oversize blazer featured three buttons and flap pockets. She paired it with a matching waistcoat and pleated trousers, completing her ensemble with pointed black dress shoes.

The “Pinky Pony Club” singer coordinated with Brandi Carlile, who moderated a discussion with Roan and producer Daniel Nigro about the creative process behind her debut album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.”
Carlile, like Roan, embraced a masculine silhouette, wearing a suit in the same shade with a more fitted coat and a matching tie. The Grammy-award winning singer finished her look with menswear-inspired dress shoes.
The choice of menswear-inspired fashion by both artists reflects a broader trend that has been gaining momentum in 2024. Designers are increasingly blurring gender lines, presenting collections that celebrate fluidity in form. Menswear silhouettes have dominated runways, with oversize blazers, structured suits and tailored trousers becoming staples in men’s and women’s fashion.
Tailored styles became even more prevalent during the 2024 U.S. presidential campaign, with Vice President Kamala Harris and celebrity supporters like Oprah Winfrey and Cardi B choosing white tailored outfits, echoing the suffragette movement of the early 20th century. Melania and Ivanka Trump wore skirt suits for President-elect Donald Trump’s speech in Florida after the Tuesday election.
