Celebs React to Alan Thicke’s Sudden Death at 69
Alan Thicke, best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver on Growing Pains, died suddenly on Tuesday at the age of 69. Celebrities and fans alike immediately took to social media to pay tribute to a veteran actor who was one of America’s favorite TV dads, as well as to express their condolences to Thicke’s family.
Thicke’s son Robin, 39, spoke to the Los Angeles Times shortly after his father’s death, calling him “the greatest man I ever met” and “always a gentleman.”
“The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure,” said Robin. “I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him.”
Gloria Loring — Thicke’s first wife and Robin’s mom — shared her thoughts on Facebook.
Thicke’s 19-year-old son Carter also posted a moving tribute to his dad on Instagram. Carter was playing hockey with his father when he suffered a heart attack. “Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it’s finest,” he wrote. “I have never known a more kind, loving, hairy, and generous person in my life and I am forever grateful for the light that this man brought to my life and so many others. You will be missed every second of every day. You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time.”
