Bronwyn Newport's "Over-the-Top" RHOSLC Debut Included a Heated Confrontation Over a $15K Coat
Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has just begun, and Bravo newbie Bronwyn Newport has already made a splash.
During Lisa Barlow's "Besos" party on the Season 5 premiere, which aired on September 18,, Bronwyn showed up to the affair in a giant, red heart-shaped Saint Laurent fur jacket over a cream-colored lipstick-print dress. Naturally, the $15,000 coat became a conversation piece, even leading to a bit of a heated debate.
When Bronwyn arrived at the bash, Lisa declared, "I love her love of fashion... "She's over-the-top."
Mary Cosby — a fellow fashion-lover — sat down next to Bronwyn to tell her how much she loved her coat, and the feeling was mutual.
"You know I love yours because I have the same one," Bronwyn replied, pointing to Mary's white Dolce & Gabbana Graffiti Print Wool & Angora Trench Coat.
Another Bravo newcomer, RHOSLC friend Britani Bateman, had a slightly different reaction to the jacket, however.
"Bronwyn I love your costume," Britani said as she sat down between Bronwyn and Mary. Bronwyn was, in short, taken aback.
"Oh, lord. She done called it a costume," Mary hilariously exclaimed. "I'm done."
Bronwyn then expressed her disdain with the comment, saying, "That's fighting words to Mary and I! This is not a costume."
"Why is that 'fighting words?'" Britani asked, as Mary responded, "Because we don't wear costumes, we wear fashion."
Bronwyn then stepped in to explain more about her statement coat, noting that the Saint Laurent piece is only one of three in existence.

"Rihanna has one, then there's one in a museum," she shared of the fabulous fur jacket. "You can love it or you can hate it but... not a costume!"

Bronwyn Newport Explains Her Style
In an interview confessional, Bronwyn opened up about her unique sense of style.
"'Funny chaos' is kind of my brand, my aesthetic at this point," she said. "I don't think I set out for that, but that's where I thrive."

"I have never desired to look sexy or cool. I am fully dressed right now like a Tim Burton character and I feel amazing, thank you for asking!
She concluded: "I don't know how to explain this."
