What happened in ‘Bridgerton’ season 3 part 1?
Without spoiling too much, season 2 of Bridgerton is based on the fourth book (Romanticizing Mr.Bridgerton) in the beloved, best-selling Bridgerton book series. It follows Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington as they realize their feelings for each other go way deeper than just friendship. Elsewhere, Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) befriends Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen), Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) makes her debut into society, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) enters into a torrid love affair with a widow and Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) begin to enjoy married life.
Another big plot point in part 1 is Eloise trying to figure out exactly what to do now that she knows (spoiler alert) that Penelope is Lady Whistledown. This came after their heartbreaking fight at the end of season 2 and led to Eloise cutting all ties with Penelope.

What is ‘Bridgerton’ season 3 part 2 about?
Season 3 part 2 is going to mainly center around Colin and Penelope's engagement. But don't be fooled, it's not going to be as romantic as it sounds. Colin still doesn’t know that Penelope is Lady Whistledown, and Eloise will go to the ends of the earth to make sure he does — even if it means destroying everything Penelope worked so hard for.
“I think Eloise is really protective of her family,” Jessie said of her character in 2024. “I think all the Bridgerton siblings are quite protective of each other, but also no one knows what's going on because Eloise hasn't told anyone. So I think she must feel so alone. The only other person that knows is Penelope.”
She also added: “I think for Eloise, this Penelope being Lady Whistledown and not telling Eloise is a betrayal. The betrayal is so big for Eloise. Eloise has been on a journey to try and find Lady Whistledown.”
The season will also continue to explore Benedict's relationship with Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New), as well as Francesca’s blossoming romance with Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli), which Hannah Dodd is very excited about.
“John doesn’t try and change Francesca. There’s a really beautiful thing about being comfortable with someone,” Dodd exclaimed when asked what she loved about their relationship. “Love, especially in TV and film, is described as lots of butterflies. Actually, it can grow. It can be a companionship and safety … [Their relationship] is just not the same as what we’ve seen with the siblings before.”
