'Breaking Bad' creator filming unnamed series in Albuquerque
May 20—The creator behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul is back in New Mexico filming a yet-to-be-named series through the end of the year, the New Mexico Film Office said last week.
Vince Gilligan's series, which is filming in and around Albuquerque, will star Rhea Seehorn, who played the character Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul.
Not much has been said about Gilligan's series, but reports have said the show is separate from the Breaking Bad world. Deadline says the show will be streamed in the future on Apple TV+.
According to the film office, more than 500 crew members, 100 principal actors and 800 background talent are working on the series.
"I'm thrilled to be working in New Mexico again," Gilligan said in a statement. "Story-wise, this new show could have been set anywhere in the United States. However, I keep returning to the Land of Enchantment for the beautifully cinematic landscape and to continue working with the best crew ever. They've been making me look good for 17 years now, and I figure, 'Why fix it if it ain't broke?' "
