Blake Shelton claims reactions to 'karma' tweet were 'way off the mark'
Blake Shelton caused all sorts of ruckus last week when he tweeted a mysterious, barbed comment on April 25 that cited “karma” and seemed to be aimed at his ex-wife, fellow country musician Miranda Lambert.

However, in a Facebook Live interview with Entertainment Tonight prior to The Voice on Monday, April 30, Shelton said fans were off the mark in determining just what he was targeting with that statement.
“If it was meant for people to know exactly what it meant, it wouldn’t have been so cryptic,” Shelton told the outlet. “But I can tell you it’s been, actually, very entertaining to watch the world run with it and assume what they think it’s about.”
Shelton also clarified that he isn’t happy about the firestorm his tweet set off. “I don’t love it,” he noted, adding, “It’s just funny. People are way off the mark. But I don’t have time to worry about it.”
The Voice coach might be amused by fans’ reactions to his tweet, but the timing of the comment is undeniably suspect. He threw the post out just one day after news broke that Lambert was involved with a married man, Turnpike Troubadours frontman Evan Felker.
Shelton’s comment seemed to open the floodgates to an already burgeoning sewer. Gossip got nastier regarding the situation: Lambert was allegedly still involved with her previous boyfriend, country musician Anderson East, while hooking up with Felker. And an even uglier report came out Monday, April 30, that Felker outright “ghosted” his wife of a year and a half, dropping her flat without warning and blindsiding her with divorce papers, while on the road with Lambert.
Shelton, who has spoken of how traumatic his divorce was but has since moved on to a scandal-free relationship with pop star Gwen Stefani, may be backpedaling simply due to having second thoughts about sticking his nose in this particular hornet’s nest. He has been called out by numerous fans for having allegedly cheated himself, having met Lambert when he was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Williams.
A particularly stinging tweet (now deleted) came forth from one of Lambert’s ex-boyfriends, Jeff Allen, whom she dated pre-2005. Allen claims Shelton absolutely cheated on Williams — because Lambert was cheating on him with Shelton.
“You must be one arrogant SOB to pop off something like this, when I know damn good and well you were cheating on your wife and Miranda was cheating on me when you two started up,” Allen noted in the deleted tweet.
“All of this is pointless,” he added, in another since-deleted tweet.
We’d have to agree. There really seems to be no dog in this fight for Shelton, so he might just want to go back to naming the dogs with Stefani.
And if he was intentionally trying to be clever in terms of some career move (Shelton has a well-documented, if entertaining, competitive edge against his fellow Voice coaches), we’re betting this one is going to backfire hard.
