'Billy on the Street' Helps Rachel Dratch Escape Scientology
Are you a celebrity who has “gone clear” via Scientology but are now looking to escape the increasingly embattled religion? Billy Eichner’s got you covered. On this week’s episode of Billy on the Street, the comedian and host unveils his new “Escape from Scientology” obstacle course, inspired by actress Leah Remini’s very public departure from Scientology’s ranks. Non-Scientologist Rachel Dratch is handpicked to run the course, which features such obstacles as an inflatable boat guarded by the infamous Sea Org, John Travolta’s shed (filled with towel-wearing male prisoners), and the volcano featured on the cover of the foundational Scientology text, L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics.
Perhaps the most daring obstacle is “Find Shelly Miscavige,” a reference to the missing wife of current Scientology leader, David Miscavige. Last seen in public almost ten years ago, rumors have flown for some time about her current whereabouts, with Remini even going as far as to file a missing persons report with the LAPD. Fortunately, the Billy on the Street version has a happier ending, with Dratch locating Miscavige in an inflatable pool filled with Jello. “We got her!” Eichner shouts triumphantly. Take that, Xenu.
