Beyonce Says Her Latest Single “Formation” Makes Her Proud
Beyonce’s game-changing and thought-provoking song “Formation” — including the Melina Matsoukas-directed visual — made those who identify with the “I’m black and I’m proud” statement joyous to celebrate the uniqueness of our culture. It only makes sense that the song’s creator also exalts that same feeling.
In a brief interview with ET, Bey talked about performing the song at Super Bowl 50’s halftime show, sharing “I wanted people to feel proud and have love for themselves.” With lyrics that uplift the features of black people and a lyrical toast to her Southern upbringing, “Formation” swiftly became one of the new anthems for people across the world who relate to the song’s message.
Although Beyonce said she was more than honored to showcase her latest melody on one of the biggest stages in entertainment, the Houston native also paid homage to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. With her wardrobe selection, Yonce channeled her inner MJ from the 1993 Super Bowl halftime show, telling Extra since it was the 50th anniversary of the sporting event, she “gave love” to her “favorite performer.”
To stay on top of the wave of Beyonce news, her stylist Ty Hunter hinted at a new album from the “Me, Myself and I” singer. “It’s beyond awesome,” he said during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.
We’ll just have to wait and see if Beyonce pulls another Beyonce ahead of her Formation World Tour next season.
