Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly Rowland Honor Tina Knowles At Glamour’s Women Of The Year Event
At the 2024 Glamour Women Of The Year event, Tina Knowles was honored alongside Donna Kelce (mother of Travis and Jason Kelce), Maggie Baird (mother of Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell), and Mandy Teefey (mother of Selena Gomez).
Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Angela “Angie” Beyincé all showed up to honor Mama Tina for her big moment, but was first joined by Solange to share a special video message for the 70-year-old.
“What’s not to love about my mom. She’s also protective. If you try her, Galveston will come out,” Bey teased. Solange shared, “My mom inspires me by being a powerhouse. There’s power in her hands. All of the grace, all of the strength, all of the poetry, all of the spirituality.” Kelly quipped, “My Mama T inspires me everyday to be just as nurturing as she is, as fun as she is.” Even Knowles’ sister Florence paid tribute to her. “Tina was a strong-willed child. She had goals. She knew what she wanted and didn’t take no for an answer.”
Angie described her as the “true matriarch” of their family while Solange added, “She is the best grandmother and the epitome of a woman with so much nuance.” Bey closed the remarks by stating, “She’s always gonna give love. It’s a gentle, firm love that’s always honest and wants the best for you.”
During her acceptance speech, both Bey and Mama Tina became emotional as the latter confessed that the best job she’s ever had was being a mother.
“I’ve been so blessed in my life to do many things. I’ve had many careers, but I’ve always said that the best job that I’ve ever had is being a mother,” said Tina, audibly getting choked up. “I’ve had the privilege of raising and helping to raise four daughters. I’m a crybaby. Two that were born to me and two that were a gift to me from God. I was somewhat of a rebellious teen and a young adult and I didn’t always follow the rules, but the day that I became a mother, I decided that this was one thing that I wouldn’t screw up.”
The camera then panned to the RENAISSANCE singer who was also getting teary-eyed. Tina continued, “My daughters have brought me such incredible joy and pride in my life far more than anything else. They are my crew, my tribe, my rocks, my ride-or-dies. They’ve been right there by my side through the lowest points of my life and they have cheered me on at the highest points of my life, making me feel like I could conquer anything.”
One person —who sounded like Kelly—shouted back, “‘Cause you can” as Bey wiped her tears. Tina concluded, “I am asked most often ‘what is the proudest moment you’ve had with your daughters?’ And my answer is always the same: what I’m most proud of is the human beings that they are. How they have managed to stay humble, grounded, generous, gracious and kind and how they manage to put it all into their art.”
Beyoncé’s arrival was a highlight of the evening, but Kelly was also shown love —both on the carpet and inside the event.
