The Electric State – March 14
The action film directed by the Russo brothers arrives on the streamer March 14. Starring Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, the film follows the pair through a sci-fi adventure in a world with sentient robots. Brown’s Michelle, an orphaned teenager, sets out on a quest to find her younger brother Christopher, who sends a friendly robot Cosmo to visit her. Pratt plays Keats, a smuggler whom Michelle reluctantly teams up with on her adventure. Keats has a robot companion as well, Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie). The film also stars Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Academy Award nominee Stanley Tucci, and Woody Norman. Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Alan Tudyk also voice robots.
The Outrun – March 18
One of Saoirse Ronan’s latest starring films, The Outrun, first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2024. The Sony Pictures film was released in theaters Oct. 4 last year. The Nora Findgsheidt-directed film stars Ronan, who also produced, as Rona, a young woman battling alcoholism in the remote Orkney Islands north of Scotland. Ronan has spoken widely about how the themes of addiction in the film helped her understand those in her life who battle it.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves – Feb. 26
This game film adaptation arrived on the streamer at the end of February, so it still counts for March. Starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Daisy Head, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Justice Smith, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page and more, the film is for the fans, as screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Dale emphasized in a panel when the film first premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.
The Holiday – March 1
We’re far from Christmas, but The Holiday provides a great escape for any time of year, especially as spring struggles against the cold weather and rain showers or snowstorms that prevail through April in some parts of the country. The romantic holiday film starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black is as good a comfort watch as any, and Diaz’s character’s wardrobe is to die for.
Wedding Crashers – March 1
One of the classic Vince Vaughn comedies of the early aughts, Wedding Crashers also stars Owen Wilson. The pair play two divorce mediators who, as the title would suggest, crash weddings with the hopes of meeting women. Bradley Cooper also has a breakout appearance in the film, which includes additional appearances from Isla Fisher, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, and Jane Seymour.
50 First Dates – March 1
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. What more do you need? Another early 2000s romantic comedy, 50 First Dates follows Henry Roth (Sandler) repeatedly reintroduces himself to the beautiful Lucy Whitmore (Barrymore), who has short-term memory loss and forgets him at the start of each day. The film also stars Rob Schneider, Sean Astin, Dan Akroud, Lusia Strus, Maya Rudolph and more.
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera – March 19
One of the January 2025 theatrical tentpoles has finally hit streaming after doing well at the box office in a month where films either make it or don’t. Star Gerard Butler revealed in January that he made the film with a freshly torn ACL, and he’d just been through an intense surgery for the ligament. Also starring O’Shea Jackson, the film delivered Lionsgate its first number one win at the box office since The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes released in November 2023.
