Back for More! Look Who’s Returning to Law & Order: Organized Crime Next Season

The Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 cast is getting a big upgrade. One familiar face from Season 4 will be back for more, as Dean Norris has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming season.

Deadline reports that Norris, who played Elliot Stabler’s older brother Randall in Season 4, will be back in a bigger capacity this season. Randall, a successful real estate developer, was estranged from the family but came on the scene when he and Elliot cared for their mom Bernadette (Ellen Burstyn).
Norris appeared in nine episodes of Law & Order: Organized Crime. The actor is best known for playing DEA agent Hank Schrader on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Fans are thrilled to have more of Norris on Law & Order: Organized Crime. In a Reddit discussion about the actor’s promotion to series regular, people shared their excitement over the news. “He killed that scene at the family dinner table,” one fan noted. Another commented, “Excellent news, so glad he’s sticking around, him and Chris had such great chemistry.”
“Great news! I’m excited for the new season of OC. I really enjoy the show and the cast,” one person said. Another noted, “Excellent news!!!! He elevates anything he’s in!”

In a Today show interview with Michael Trotter, who plays Joe Stabler, Norris shared how he landed the role. “[OC showrunner] John Shiban, who I have a history with, who was a writer on Breaking Bad, called me and talked to me and told me what was going to happen for the season,” the actor explained.
Norris added, “I definitely texted [Christopher] Meloni and said, ‘Hey, I might be your brother. We’ll see how things work out.’ I’m glad it did work out, and it’s been a blast.”
The actor previously worked with Meloni in the 2014 comedy Small Time and Trotter worked with Meloni in the 2016 series Underground.
Norris also recalled a moment of bonding with Meloni and Trotter before their first big scene together. “We got drunk that morning,” he revealed. “And had a couple fights. We had good makeup, though, to cover up the bruises. I think the fact that we all had — well, I didn’t with Michael before but it certainly felt very comfortable with Mike early on — we both had that history with Chris. I think that it’s hard to fake that stuff. It kind of comes out. We were lucky.”
As for the chemistry between Norris and Meloni in the episode “The Last Supper,” Norris shared, “There’s some great stuff with the end-of-the-episode kind of chitchat with me and Chris. I always enjoy those, and there are several more of those that kind of come up. I always really just enjoy those scenes. They’re just kind of getting to know my brother better, and I think our relationship starts to thaw out. I enjoy every one of those. There’s a lot of good stuff coming up.”
