Back From the Dead! Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Revives a Special Character From Young Sheldon

George Sr. is back! Sort of. Lance Barber, who played Georgie and Sheldon Cooper’s dad in Young Sheldon recently popped up in a set picture from the new spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, sparking speculation that George Cooper could be making an appearance in the new show. But is George Cooper really back?

Will George Cooper Be in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
Sadly, the answer is no, according to TVLine. The picture, which features Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage leading man Montana Jordan, who plays Georgie Cooper, and guest star Raegan Revord who plays Missy Cooper, was strictly a set visit by Barber.
“Very cutesy, very mindful,” Revord captioned her Instagram post, which featured multiple photos, including that set photo.
It’s hard to blame fans for the excitement, as the reunion photo comes just months after George Sr. died of a heart attack in one of Young Sheldon’s last episodes.
And yes, fans indeed knew this was coming since, well …the beginning, The Big Bang Theory kinda spoiled that for us. But by the time Young Sheldon got to Season 7, it was starting to feel like it might not happen. And then, it did.
Young Sheldon was the prequel series to the massively successful CBS show The Big Bang Theory, which ran from 2007 to 2019. It followed a young Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) as he grew up in East Texas. Set in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Young Sheldon first premiered in 2017. Jim Parsons, who originated the character of Sheldon Cooper, narrated the show and served as an executive producer.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is the sequel to the prequel, following Sheldon’s brother Georgie and his wife Mandy McAllister on their marriage. The show is set to feature guest appearances from Young Sheldon stars Annie Potts (Meemaw) and Zoe Perry (Mary) as well as Revord (Missy) and will follow the couple “as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage.” Will Sasso (Jim) and Rachel Bay Jones (Audrey) are also set to star.
The show’s name is a play on something we learned about Georgie way back in The Big Bang Theory — he and Mandy are no longer together. But as the logo and the title of the show seem to be teasing, there is a second marriage coming. One that might just involve Georgie and Mandy again.
