Azealia Banks Issues An Apology To Those She Offended

Azealia Banks has found herself at the top of everyone’s hit list after she aimed insensitive and racist comments at former One Direction singer, Zayn Malik. But now the “infamous incident has worn off” and she’s been dropped from Rinse FM’s Born & Bred Festival, the “Big Big Beat” rapper has issued an official apology.

“Dear World,” the rapper wrote on Instagram. “I’ve had some time to decompress & take a more rational assessment of things. I want to extend my sincerest apologies to the world.”

In the apology, Azealia also acknowledges how using racial slurs and derogatory language was not only inappropriate but offensive to many of her followers.

“Employing racial/sexual slurs/stereotypes in attempts to make fun of or degrade another person or group is absolutely unacceptable and is not fair or fun for anyone. Allowing my anger to get the best of me, I’ve managed to insult millions of people without reason. And for that I give my deepest apologies,” she continued.

Her insta-apology sounds very different from her her halfway statement she made on Twitter early in the week. “Not sorry I said it. But sorry for the way I made people feel,” the rapper previously tweeted.

The comments below the image exhibit some mixed feelings from fans and followers. But hopefully her newest statement is a step in a better, more sensitive direction.
