Azealia Banks Hits Doechii With Drug Use Accusations In Response To Viral Freestyle Clip
Azealia Banks continues to wage war against rising rap star and newfound rival Doechii, with Banks accusing her of using cocaine in response to her viral freestyle.
On Sunday (Jan. 5), Azealia Banks reshared an X post, in which the user expresses their belief that Doechii snorted cocaine prior to the recording of her freestyle over Beyoncé’s “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM” instrumental.
In the clip, Doechii can be seen lightly wiping her nose with her hand before delivering her rhymes, however, no sign or trace of the drug is seen in the entirety of the clip.
Yet, the speculatory post caught Banks’ attention, who took the opportunity to clap back at the “Denial Is A River” artist for critical comments during a previous exchange between the two.
“Wait, What was said about meds frying my brain?” Banks wrote, referencing Doechii’s social media posts aimed at her from last April. “Lmao who the f**k still snorts coke post 2017,” the Harlem native, who recently referred to Doechii as a “DEI hire,” added.
Banks’ jab at Doechii is the latest in a string of disparaging comments she’s made regarding the GRAMMY Award nominated lyricist, as she diminished Doechii’s talents as a rapper in response to one of her supporters.
“She got def jam poetry newyorican cafe music/TDE writing camp sh*t,” the “212” creator wrote of Doechii on X. Banks also claimed that the public has “convinced themselves she’s good because she’s dark skinned,” listing Flo Milli and Asian Doll has superior rappers.
“Plenty of fabulous dark skinned girls getting over looked for not being ugly enough to give sympathy support,” Banks added.
While Doechii has yet to react to Banks’ latest dig, she certainly had time earlier this year, when she lashed out at the notorious rabblerouser in a series of posts on her own social media account this past April.
“I use my platform to make money and inspire people,” Doechii wrote at the time. “Everyone around me is inspired by me. I’m positive influence. You used to be so respected for your talents and your voice. Now you use your platform to gossip about Black artists and sell Mary Kay products. You’re insufferable.
“Your brain is fried from meds, you’re damn near immobile from the shots. Don’t hurt yourself. You gossip about BLACK artists to stay relevant and it’s sad. You definitely are an issue just not the icons… you’re one post away from the psych ward. STOP IT.”
Doechii is coming off of a transformative year in her burgeoning career, as the TDE signee made major waves with her album, Alligator Bites Never Heal, which was hailed as one of the superior Hip-Hop releases of 2024 and earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rap Album.
