Awkward Love Triangle on ‘New Girl’ Finally Gets Broken Up

On New Girl, when Jess helped Nick drunkenly break into their friend’s house for the sake of finding Nick a new blazer, Cece needed to show her the light. Jess had in fact been doing all the things a girlfriend does, but with zero girlfriend benefits. When Jess realized she’d been doing all the emotional heavy lifting with Nick ever since his relationship with Reagan started, she had a moment of clarity.

Things became even more clear when Reagan gave her some expensive jewelry as a gift, making Jess realize that she’d basically been Reagan’s girlfriend too, giving her all the advice she could hope for about how to work things out with Nick.

And when Jess ended up in Palm Springs with Reagan and Nick in a weird platonic-ish love triangle, Jess decided she needed to break up with the both of them, leaving them to fend for themselves.
