‘Awards Magnet’: Final 2025 Oscar winner predictions
Anora or Conclave? Mikey Madison or Demi Moore? Awards Magnet hosts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng make their final 2025 Oscar winner predictions with Gold Derby editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum.
Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards kept things spicy in multiple categories. After claiming the Producers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America, and Writers Guild of America Awards, Anora was goose-egged at SAG. Worse, it lost the ensemble award to its closest Oscar rival, Conclave. The Vatican drama also has the BAFTA Best Picture prize under its belt, is basically locked for Best Adapted Screenplay, and might claim Best Film Editing too after its BAFTA triumph in the same category. Is that enough to take down Anora's guild trio for the Best Picture Oscar? Anora has already proven it can win — and beat Conclave — on a preferential ballot with its PGA victory. The only film to lose the Oscar with PGA, DGA, and WGA is Brokeback Mountain. Seven years ago, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won BAFTA and SAG, but it lost the Oscar to The Shape of Water, which had PGA and DGA.

A week after Madison won the Best Actress BAFTA for Anora, SAG also crowned Moore for The Substance, taking that race down to the wire. The top two have split the industry precursors, and recent history has favored the person with the stronger film (Anora in this case), but there's a wild card in this race: Fernanda Torres. The Golden Globe champ star singlehandedly carried I'm Still Here to a Best Picture nomination and has never faced off against her Best Actress competitors anywhere. How will her presence affect the vote spread? And if I'm Still Here wins Best International Feature, will that signal a Torres upset?
