Kicking off with a chic vernissage on Oct. 15 on the eve of opening of Art Basel Paris, this year’s inaugural Tales & Tellers program will bring together directors, talent and artists coming from different horizons who have participated in Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales and/or collaborated with the brand on the fashion shows.
Four panels hosted in two days, on Oct. 16-17, will be organized with Ava DuVernay, Chlo? Sevigny, Zoe R. Cassavetes (“Broken English”), Lila Avilés (“La Camarista”), Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovi? (“Murina”), Crystal Moselle (“Skate Kitchen”), Carla Simón (“Alcarràs”), Catherine Martin (“Elvis”), Haifaa Al-Mansour (“Wadjda”) and Isabel Sandoval (“Brooklyn Secret”), among others. They will exchange about their lives and work during these conversations.
Since its inception, Miu Miu has explored femininity, vanity and the female gaze. In 2011, Miu Miu launched the Women’s Tales series to give female filmmakers a platform to present their views on womanhood through different perspectives, stories and genres.
Alongside the Tales, Miu Miu has hosted its biannual runway presentations at the Palais d’Iéna in Paris over the past three years. Weaving art and fashion, the shows have been highlighting the work of female artists through conceptual installations and moving images.
Variety is a partner of Miu Miu for the Tales & Tellers program at the Art Basel Paris.
