In the caption, the 77-year-old Arnold wrote in the caption about his 31-year-old son: “I was so pumped to take a break from filming to celebrate @patrickschwarzenegger at The White Lotus season three premiere. What a show! I could claim to be surprised to find out he has a nude scene, but what can I say — the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Don’t miss it this Sunday — trust me.”
Patrick later responded to his father, writing simply, “Parents” (with the facepalm emoji).
Indeed, a nude photo of Schwarzenegger taken from a 1970 magazine shoot went viral. “Why would I get upset about the nude photograph that I posed for an artist for, for a sculpture?,” he told Oprah Winfrey about the photo in 1992. “I’m not embarrassed. I have nothing to hide.” He also appeared mostly nude during his introductory scene in 1984’s The Terminator.
Patrick is one of Arnold’s five children and his mom is Maria Shriver. Patrick has appeared in Netflix’s 2021 movie Moxie and HBO’s true crime series The Staircase. He’s engaged to his longtime girlfriend Abby Champion, and he previously dated Miley Cyrus.
On the new season of The White Lotus, Patrick plays Saxon, the son of a wealthy businessman (Jason Isaacs) who is visiting a Thailand resort along with this wife (Parker Posey).
The new season is getting very strong reviews, and currently sits at 93 percent freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Hollywood Reporter’s review said that Patrick “has never been more impeccably cast than as a tightly wound Patrick Bateman-esque sociopath with underlying fragility.” Also, that the season starts out a bit sluggish, but picks up midway through, echoing the consensus of several other critics of this season. “Especially in the first three episodes, this season of The White Lotus is a very slow burn in terms of plot. That’s partially by character-driven design … I can reassure viewers who find the start of the season slow that things pick up dramatically, especially in the fifth or sixth episodes, which have events perched precariously on the verge of disaster.” Here are more details about the season.
The White Lotus returns Sunday, Feb. 16 on HBO/Max.
Feb. 12, 8 a.m. Updated to include Patrick’s response to Arnold.
