Ariana Grande Shows Us How Glinda Might Dress Up for a Black-Tie Party

Ariana Grande isn’t ready to let go of method dressing just yet.

The superstar turned heads last night while attending the 97th annual Academy Awards Nominees Dinner in Los Angeles. Grande, who earned her first-ever Oscar nomination for her performance as Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of Wicked, continued her red-carpet streak of nodding to her beloved character through her clothes. In this case, Grande gave us some ideas of what the Good Witch might wear to a black-tie party.

She pulled a vintage Yves Saint Laurent look for the occasion. The inky black gown featured a soft chiffon skirt with a fluttery hemline that grazed against the floor, and a high empire waistline with a large black bow adorned at the center of the chest. But, the real showstopper was the dress’s neckline: an effusive waterfall of wispy curled boa feathers dyed in a variety of pastel and hot pink. As for the rest of her ensemble, Grande kept things to a minimum; she wore simple pearl stud earrings and slicked back her blonde hair up in a tight high bun.

All throughout the Wicked press tour and this year’s awards season, Grande has paid homage to Glinda with a series of pink outfits. From a floral couture ballgown by Armani Privé to an angelic blush off-the-shoulder dress by Loewe, Grande’s method dressing streak is clearly the gift that keeps on giving.

As she heads into her red-carpet appearance at the 2025 Academy Awards this Sunday, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any more pops of pink.
