Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez Pair Sheer Black Tights With Cap-Toe Chanel Pumps and Platform Heels at the Academy Women’s Luncheon
Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande have had whirlwind years culminating in Golden Globe nods, both in the best supporting actress category for their respective roles in “Emilia Pérez” and “Wicked.” The friends were able to spend time together at the Academy Women’s Luncheon presented by Chanel in Los Angeles on Dec. 10, where both dressed in fine tweeds and heels from the French label.
Gomez opted for a sophisticated ensemble featuring a button-down collared top and a pencil skirt with off-center buttons. The top also featured fold-over pockets and introduced white accents with the collar and sleeve cuffs. Grande, on the other hand, opted for a multi-hued sleeveless minidress with a deep V-neck. The garment featured pockets with a crystal embellishment and pearl trim. She carried a black quilted purse as well, underscoring the elegance of her look.

Gomez matched her shoes to her apparel with a pair of white and black pumps with a rounded toe. The shoes featured a platform and a tall block heel substantially elevating her look. While mostly white, the shoe was accented by a black cap toe and stood out with two buckled ankle straps. The heels could be seen on the runway in Paris this fall as part of Chanel’s spring 2025 show, which was a star-studded affair at the Grand Palais.
Grande opted for cap toe pumps as well, though she wore a black pair with a pointed toe and stiletto heel. Both lauded actresses paired their shoes with sheer black tights, a go-to classy fashion choice that can help formalize an outfit and elevate a footwear look.
Cap-toe shoes are a classic Chanel style evocative of years past. The look remains popular in the modern day, however — just this year, Lisa Kudrow, Lily-Rose Depp and more stars have stepped out in variations of the style.
