Area filmmakers shine at 2nd Sunday Cinema event
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Local filmmakers and their movies took the stage this afternoon.
It was all part of the 2nd Sunday Cinema event – held today at the Route 66 Movie Theatre – hosted by Great Wonders Production. This is the fourth installment of the 2nd Sunday Cinema.
This event presents two films made by local filmmakers and invites the filmmakers to hold a Q&A session after the movies.
Filmmakers will receive a portion of the box office profits made from today.
Tonight’s movies feature “State of Grave” by Stephen and Mary Pruitt and “Simple Mercies” by Karen Elizabeth, both local filmmakers out of Kansas. We talked with Karen Elizabeth about how it felt to have a movie in the theaters.
“This is a unique festival as they are really trying hard to give filmmakers a boost here in the four-state area. So it just feels really gratifying to be part of that, that not only do we get to screen in the festival but we also have opportunities to screen throughout the year as well,” said Karen Elizabeth, filmmaker, “Simple Mercies”.
This event is new and is held once a month to focus on the cinematic arts in the area. If you would like to learn more about the film festival or the movies shown during a 2nd Sunday Cinema showing.
