Archie Panjabi Cast as Doctor Who Season 2 Villain for Disney+ & BBC Show
A new era of Doctor Who was kickstarted in May 2024 when fans were introduced to the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa. The follow-up season of the show with Gatwa in the role will premiere in 2025, with Millie Gibson also returning as supporting character Ruby Sunday. The duo will also be accompanied by Varada Sethu, who will portray the Doctor’s co-companion, Belinda Chandra. Now, Emmy winner Archie Panjabi has also been confirmed to be joining the growing Doctor Who Season 2 cast.
Archie Panjabi to play a Doctor Who Season 2 villain in 2025
Archie Panjabi will reportedly play a villainous role in the upcoming season of Doctor Who.
The news was initially reported by Deadline, whose sources confirmed Panjabi’s participation in the series. However, specific details regarding her character have yet to be revealed. Though she has taken on many different roles in movies and TV series throughout her career so far, Panjabi is most well-known to TV viewers for her Emmy-winning role on The Good Wife.
Doctor Who, which originally debuted in 1963, revolves around the adventures of a time-traveling extraterrestrial entity known as the Doctor. William Hartnell played the series’ first iteration of the Doctor, and the iconic role has since been played by over a dozen other actors. Now, the series continues with Ncuti Gatwa in the role of the Fifteenth Doctor. In his debut outing, Gatwa’s Doctor was seen traveling across different time periods, ranging from the English Regency era to multiple dystopian futures. Gatwa was also accompanied by Millie Gibson’s Ruby, who is set to feature in Doctor Who Season 2 alongside Archie Panjabi’s unnamed villain.
The fantastical series will return to the small screens with a Christmas Special this year. Meanwhile, its sequel season is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
