I can't tell you how many times I hear people talking about Pearl and how she's the new horror queen.

When Oscar nominations were announced last week, some people were really upset she wasn't nominated.

Because of that, Mia was asked by Jake's Take why the Academy doesn't take horror seriously, and the clip has gone viral...

“I think that it’s very political and that it’s not entirely based on the quality of a project per se," she says.

“I think there’s a lot going on there, a lot of cooks in the kitchen when it comes to nominations and categories that are recognized. Maybe I shouldn’t say that either but I think that’s true. I think a lot of people know that."

"I think a change is necessary, a shift should take place. If they want to engage with the wider public, it would be of benefit," she finishes.
