Marvel’s Spider-Man, an all-new animated series, will debut on Disney XD next year, the network announced at New York Comic Con on Saturday. You know the story: Awkward teen Peter Parker gets bitten by a radioactive spider and is suddenly endowed with superpowers that make him a natural crime-fighter.

“Spider-Man is the biggest action hero in the world,” Disney XD senior vice president Marc Buhaj said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Marvel in this new original series that offers a fresh take on a beloved classic that will engage both new and existing Spidey fans with its compelling drama, exciting action and the signature sense of comedy.”
In case you were wondering, Disney XD’s current Spider-Man animated series — Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, with the voices of Drake Bell, Chi McBride, JK Simmons and Steven Weber — will wrap up in January. The two-part “Graduation Day” finale will see the web-slinger taking on Doctor Octopus and other villains in a battle for New York City.
